SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- After a 16-point victory over Xavier on Friday night, the Seton Hall women's basketball team (15-4, 5-3 BIG EAST) closes the weekend with a Sunday afternoon showdown against Butler (7-12, 2-7 BIG EAST) at Walsh Gymnasium. The Pirates and Bulldogs will square off for the first time since the 2014-15 regular season finale at 2 p.m. on the BIG EAST Digital Network and FOX Sports GO app with Dave Popkin and David Gass on the call.
HEY BULLDOG
The Pirates have split four all-time meetings with Butler, rebounding from a BU sweep in 2013-14 to take both meetings with the Bulldogs last season.
The Pirates took a 70-65 victory over Butler in the last meeting in South Orange on Dec. 30, 2014
The two sides last met on March 1, 2015 in Indianapolis, with the Pirates clinching the BIG EAST regular season title with an epic comeback win
The Hall trailed by nine with a minute to play, but exploded for the final 18 points of regulation to pull off a wild 85-76 victory
Tabatha Richardson-Smith (Bay City, Texas) scored 25 in the comeback victory at BU, while Daisha Simmons led the Pirates with 19 in the South Orange win
All four meetings with Butler have been decided by single-digits
LAST TIME OUT
The Pirates won their second-straight in league play on Friday night, knocking off Xavier by a score of 82-66
The Pirates trailed by 10 with about a minute to play in the first quarter before ripping off a massive 35-7 run into the end of the second quarter to build a double-digit lead by the half
The Hall forced 20 Xavier turnovers and out-score XU by a margin of 30-8 in points off turnovers
Richardson-Smith led the way with 27 points, seven rebounds and five assists
Shakena Richardson (Neptune, N.J.) set a new career-best with 23 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor
The Pirates set a new season-best with a 54.0 percent field goal percentage (34-of-63)
Lubirdia Gordon (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) anchored the Pirate defense with six rebounds, four blocked shots and a pair of steals

Belle Obert tops the BIG EAST with 2.9 blocks per game and adds 8.2 points and 6.8 rebounds for BU
Butler leads the league in 3-point field goal percentage defense (27.7 percent) and is third in the league in total field goal percentage defense at 38.2 percent
Blaire Langlois is second on the team with 12.7 points per game and paces the squad with 3.0 assists a night
After hosting Butler, the Pirates are back on the road with a trip to the midwest next weekend. First up is No. 24 DePaul on Friday, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
