
Strong Team-Wide Effort Propels Pirates Past Saint Peter's, 88-39

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Senior Jordana Codio (Winter Garden, Fla.) had a career-high 20 points as the Seton Hall women's basketball team routed Saint Peter's, 88-39, in the 2025-26 season-opener Tuesday in Walsh Gym.
Although Saint Peter's had the first lead of the game, the Pirates immediately responded with a game-changing 22-0 run. The Hall took a 50-19 lead into the half despite only six combined first-half points by superstar guards Savannah Catalon (Mansfield, Texas) and Jada Eads (Orlando, Fla.).
Codio had 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting, while Bishop was an efficient 6-for-8 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from three-point range. In all, 10 of the 13 available Pirates scored.
Freshman Zahara Bishop (Minneapolis, Minn.) had 15 points on an efficient 6-for-8 shooting, including 2-for-3 from three-point range. Sophomore Ja'Kahla Craft (Elk River, Minn.) finished with a career-high 13 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter.
THE STORY:
Saint Peter's started the scoring with a three-pointer, but The Hall squelched the Peacocks offense for the next 8:01, going on a remarkable 22-0 run, highlighted by 12 points from Codio and six from Bishop. Seton Hall held Saint Peter's to just 21 percent shooting in the first 10 minutes and took a 25-8 lead into the second.
Already up 39-19, The Hall closed the half with an 11-0 run, and a layup by Rust, with 58 seconds left before the break gave it a commanding 50-19 lead at halftime.
The Peacocks didn't score until nearly four minutes into the third quarter as The Hall built its lead to 56-19. Seton Hall closed the third quarter with another 9-0 burst and took a 71-25 advantage into the fourth. The Pirates scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to finish off the rout.

Seton Hall will head to the West Coast for a game at San Francisco on Friday, Nov. 14. Tip-time is scheduled for 9:00 p.m. ET.

- Codio had a game-high 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting and three rebounds in only 16 minutes.
- The Hall out-rebounded Saint Peter's, 52-to-31, which included a 21-to-12 edge on the offensive glass and a 20-to-6 advantage in second-chance points.
- Bishop had 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting, including 2-for-3 from three-point range.
- Seton Hall was 11-for-15 (73.3%) from the free-throw line, while Saint Peter's was 5-for-8 (62.5%).
- Craft had 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting to go with four rebounds.
- Seton Hall forced 24 turnovers, while the Peacocks forced 14. The Hall had a 34-to-14 advantage in points-off-turnovers.
- Mariana Valenzuela (Mazatlan, Mexico), playing in her first game at Seton Hall, had eight points and eight rebounds.
- The Pirates had 30 fast-break points, compared to none for Saint Peter's.
- Catalon had only five points, but also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. She was also a team-best +41.
- Eads tallied six points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- Cam Rust (Wakefield, R.I.), also playing in her first Seton Hall game, had nine points, two rebounds and three assists.

- Seton Hall opens the season with a victory for the 15th consecutive season.
