SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Three Pirates registered at least six kills, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell in straight sets to defending BIG EAST champion Creighton, 3-0 (16-25, 18-25, 12-25), on Friday.
Â
Seton Hall (11-14, 5-7) scored the first two points of the match, but Creighton roared back with six unanswered to take an early 6-2 lead. Leading 9-6, the Bluejays scored five straight to take a commanding 14-6 advantage, and never looked back. Creighton won the first set, 25-16.
Â
Creighton picked up where they left off to begin set two. The Bluejays scored the first five points and raced out to a 14-6 lead, which prompted a Seton Hall timeout. Trailing 18-8, the Pirates went on a 9-1 run, and a kill by Danielle Schroeder (Chicago, Ill.) cut the Creighton lead to 19-17. But the Bluejays bounced back with five straight points before winning set two, 25-18.
Â
The Pirates never led in set three as Creighton scored 11 of the first 15 points in route to a 25-12 victory.
