Pirates Take Down Philadelphia In Exhibition

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team got 31 points from JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) to power an 80-54 victory over Philadelphia University in exhibition action on Saturday afternoon. The contest marked the final tuneup before the regular season, which begins on Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. against Savannah State.
Jackson poured in 25 of her points during an explosive first half, and the redshirt junior transfer finished her Seton Hall debut with six rebounds and three steals while shooting 12-for-20 from the floor. She was joined in double-figures by Claire Lundberg (Andover, Minn.) with 11 points while LaTecia Smith (Gardenia, Calif.) stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds, six assists and five steals.
The Pirates took a double-digit lead after a quarter and went up by 12 at the half, expanding their lead to as many as 28 late in the fourth quarter. The Hall held the Rams to 30.0 percent shooting from the floor for the contest and forced 29 Philadelphia turnovers.
Turning Point
After closing the first half on a 9-0 run, Philadelphia sliced the SHU lead to single digits with 7:30 to play in the third quarter with an Alexandra Warren 3-pointer to make it 43-34. The Hall responded with an 8-2 run to push the lead back to 15, getting a triple from Deja Winters (Richmond Heights, Ohio) and lay-ups off turnovers from Jackson and Smith. Overall, the Pirates out-scored the Rams 18-7 over the final 5:45 of the third quarter to balloon their lead to 61-41 before the fourth began.

- The Hall shot 45.5 percent from the floor and 31.0 percent from 3-point range compared to 30.0 and 27.8 percent marks for Philadelphia
- Seton Hall held a 42-8 edge in points in the paint
