SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (7-4) closed its non-league slate with a victory on Sunday afternoon, taking down Rider (7-3) by a score of 89-81. The Pirates got 19 points from both Kaela Hilaire (Floral Park, N.Y.) and JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) in their highest scoring output of the season.

In a strong offensive display for both sides, the Pirates shot a season-high 41 free throws and knocked down 32, including a 19-for-22 (86.4 percent) performance in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory. The Hall led by 11 at the break but a 22-11 edge for the Broncs in the third leveled the contest before the final quarter. In the fourth, a clutch late basket from Jackson before a series of Hilaire free throws helped close it out for the Pirates.

Claire Lundberg (Andover, Minn.) finished as the third Pirate in double-figures with 15 points, including a 4-of-5 effort from 3-point range. Overall, eight different Pirates finished with at least five points and six totaled seven or more.

Turning Points
After a back-and-forth start to the contest, the Pirates began to build a lead miday through the second quarter. Rider leveled the contest with a 3-pointer at 6:41 of the period before back-to-back lay-ups from Martha Kuderer (Eden Prairie, Minn.) and a Lundberg trifecta gave the Pirates a 38-33 lead. The Broncs kept the lead at five until the final 2:25 of the half, which saw The Hall run off an 8-2 run capped by two more Lundberg triples to give the Pirates a 51-40 edge headed to the half.

Rider came out strong in the third quarter, pulling ahead briefly with 1:15 to play in the frame before the contest went to the fourth level at 62-62. Early in the fourth the Pirates used a 7-0 run to pull ahead 69-63, but Rider again found an answer that saw the contest knotted at 71-71 with 4:31 to play.

The contest would stay tight as the Broncs pulled even again at 75 with 2:43 to play before a pair of Hilaire free throws allowed The Hall to re-take the lead at 2:27. With 1:10 remaining and the Pirates up two, Kaity Healy (Freehold, N.J.) snagged a huge offensive rebound off her own miss that allowed Jackson to drive and finish with 47.1 seconds left and give The Hall a four-point edge. The Pirates kept it a multi-possession game the rest of the way by going 8-for-8 from the line in the final 36 seconds.

The Pirates shot 47.1 percent from the floor, 53.8 percent from 3-point range and 82.9 percent from the free throw line with the latter two marks signifying new season-bests
The Hall turned it over 14 times compared to 19 for the Broncs and out-scored Rider 23-8 off turnovers
The Pirates held a 12-8 edge in steals and a 6-0 advantage in blocked shots
