MONROE, LA. - The Seton Hall softball team got home runs from Faith Laudano (Islip, N.Y.) and Noel Lent (Yaphanic, N.Y.) to finish off a sweep of Prairie View A&M, securing a 4-2 victory on Saturday night for their second-straight triumph over the Lady Panthers at the Mardi Gras Classic. The Hall improved to 4-0 on the year with the victory, while PVAMU fell to 0-4.
Lent went yard in the second inning to give the Pirates an early 2-0 advantage, before Laudano launched a two-run shot in the top of the fourth to put The Hall up by the eventual final score of 4-2. Alannah Basile (Levittown, N.Y.) got the start in the circle for the Pirates and fired three innings before Lauren Fischer (Robbinsville, N.J.) took over for four scoreless innings out of the bullpen to notch her first save since the 2014 season.
Turning Point
Prairie View A&M erased a 2-0 deficit to tie the contest in the bottom of the third, but Laudano ensured that the deadlock would be short-lived in the top of the fourth. After Chrisa Head (Lewisville, Texas) singled and stole second, Laudano smacked a home run to center field that put the Pirates up 4-2.
