SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Head Coach Clay White announced the 2016 Seton Hall men's golf fall schedule on Thursday. The Pirates will participate in five tournaments this fall.
For the first time in four seasons, the Pirates will not open the fall season at the Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate. The Hall will compete in the State of New York, but will head to the Gimmler Invitational, hosted by St. John's at Bethpage, Sept. 10-11. The Pirates last played in this tournament in 2013 and placed 11th in the field of 14 teams. Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) led the Pirates and tied for 10th overall with a 1-under-par, 72-67-70-209.
Eight days later, Seton Hall will head to Bull's Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Conn. for the Hartford Hawks Invitational for a fifth straight year. The Pirates will play three rounds of golf over two days, Sept. 19-20. The Hall had a strong showing at this event last fall, finishing fifth among 20 competing teams with a 7-over-par, 282-292-297-817. Its 871 is the second-lowest three-round, par-72 score in program history. Go led the Pirates with three sub-par rounds, finishing tied for fourth with a 6-under-par, 70-69-71-210.
To begin October, the Pirates will play in a new tournament, hosted by Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. The teams will play three rounds, Oct. 2-3 at Milwaukee Country Club.
The following week, the Pirates will return to the Mountaineer Intercollegiate, Oct. 10-11. Hosted by West Virginia University at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W. Va., the event is in its second year and features three rounds of golf. Last fall, the Pirates finished 12th at 36-over-par. Go and Ryan Snouffer led the Pirates at 7-over-par.
The Hall will complete the fall season, Oct. 21-23, at Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso, Texas for the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational. It's a second new tournament for the Pirates this fall and typically features a strong field. Last year, the field included nationally-ranked teams such as Kansas, St. Mary's (Calif.) and Idaho. It also included BIG EAST rival Marquette.
