Pirates Take Down Lehigh In Wild OT Thriller
9/10/2016 5:17:00 PM | Men's Soccer
SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Andres Arcila buried a penalty kick with 1:44 remaining in the first overtime period to cap a wild 4-3 victory for the Seton Hall men's soccer team (2-2-1) on Saturday afternoon against Lehigh (1-3-0). The goal for Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) was his second of the contest and the first game-winner of the sophomore's career.
The Pirates came out on fire, scoring three times in the first 48 minutes to build a 3-0 advantage. Gaspar Jean-Baptiste (Valley Stream, N.Y.) and Jordan Kinoshi (Welwyn Garden City, England) both scored the first goals of their respective SHU careers in the first half before Arcila struck for his third of the year early in the second.
Lehigh would battle back to tie the contest, using a hat trick from Mark Forrest over a span of 26 minutes in the second half to even the score at 3-3. The match stayed there until the 99th minute when a foul in the box led to a penalty kick chance for the Pirates.
Turning Point
Awarded a penalty with the clock showing 98:16, Arcila stepped up for his second PK chance of the year. The sophomore coolly stepped forward, hesitated and then rifled a left-footed shot into the right side of the cage for the winner. It marked his fourth goal of the season and first career game-winner.
