Kinoshi Tallies In Setback At Delaware
9/14/2016 9:17:00 PM | Men's Soccer
NEWARK, Del. – Jordan Kinoshi (Welwyn Garden City, England) scored his second goal in as many matches for the Seton Hall men's soccer team (2-3-1) in a 3-1 setback at Delaware (5-1-0) on Wednesday night. The contest marked the start of a season-long four-game road swing for the Pirates.
Kinoshi struck for The Hall in the 74th minute, cutting into a 2-0 deficit. The Hens, who scored twice in the first half, would add a game-icing goal 13 minutes later after the Pirates were unable to find an equalizer. Guillermo Delgado led the way for Delaware with a goal and two assists.
Turning Point
Down by two, the Pirates began to push forward in the final 20 minutes of regulation. Their efforts finally paid off in the 74th when Kinoshi came up with a goal. Pressure led to a corner kick for The Hall, swung in by Andres Arcila (Cartagena, Colombia) before being deflected out to Patrick Burd (Hillsborough, N.J.). Burd sent a ball back into the box, where it was banded around in front until Kinoshi was able to power it home.
The Pirates kept up their intensity following the goal in an attempt to find an equalizer, getting a quality look in the 82nd minute when Arcila forced a turnover deep before firing an off-balance shot that was saved. Five minutes later in the 87th Delaware put the contest out of reach with a long-distance goal from Carlos Perales that pushed the lead back to two.
