Three Pirates Shoot Under Par in Hartford First Round
9/19/2016 4:55:00 PM | Men's Golf
SOUTH KENT, CONN. – Three Pirates shot under par and the Seton Hall men's golf team is in third place at the Hartford Hawks Invitational following the first round on Monday.
Â
The field was originally slated to play two continuous rounds today and one final round on Tuesday, but rain forced the cancellation of today's second round. As a result, the tournament will be shortened to just two rounds.
Â
Seton Hall shot a 6-under-par, 282, in the first round and is six strokes behind the team leader, Cal Poly entering Tuesday's final 18 holes. The Pirates had an identical 282 in the first round of this event last year, which is tied for the second-lowest par-72 single-round score in program history.
Â
Senior Lloyd Jefferson Go (Guadalupe Cebu City, Philippines) was again the standard bearer for the Pirates. The 2015 BIG EAST champion shot a 3-under-par, 69, and is currently tied for sixth place among 107 golfers. He enters the final round four strokes behind Central Florida's Donnie Trosper for the individual lead. Go has now shot under par in three of his first four rounds this fall.
Â
Sophomore Gen Nagai (Mandaue Cebu City, Philippines) and freshman Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) each fired a 2-under-par, 70, and are tied for eighth place overall. It's Nagai's fourth career sub-par round and Chalk's first.
Â
Sophomore Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.) is currently tied for 37th place after a 1-over-par, 73, while junior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) is just one stroke behind Yeom after a 2-over-par, 74.
Â
Participating as an individual, senior Kevin O'Brien (Wexford, Pa.) is currently 4-over-par with a 76.
