South Orange, N.J. – The Seton Hall men's cross country team has won three meets this season, and has plenty of confidence heading into the challenge of competing in the BIG EAST Championship at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the 8K Wayne Dennehl National Course in Kenosha, Wis.
Senior captain Jake Simon (Freehold, N.J.) and junior captain Jarod Moser (Duncanville, Texas) have been the top finishers for the Pirates this season. Simon won individual titles at the Monmouth Kick-Off, Wolfie Invitational and NYIT Invite, and has been either the first or second Seton Hall runner in all six meets.
Moser won the Maryland Eastern Shore Cappy Anderson Invitational and the Delaware Blue & Gold Invite. He ran his best 8K time of 25:57.14 at NYIT.
Sophomore Jesse Southard (Gorham, Maine) has also been a steady fixture near the top of the results, and has a seson-best 8K time of 24:27.56. He has been the team's second-highest finisher on three occasions, and finished 34th at the Metro Champioship on Oct. 13.
A consistent contributor throughout his four years at The Hall, senior Bryant Cordova (Elizabeth, N.J.) is prepared for his final BIG EAST Championship race after running an impressive 27:16.1 for 26th place on the difficult Van Cortlandt Park course at the Metro Championship.
Senior captain Jeff Larson (Yucca Valley, Calif.) has scored important points throughout his final campaign, as well as freshman Brandon Guerrera (Farmingville, N.Y.), junior Ricky Stephens (Stony Point, N.Y.), sophomore Mack Wilowski (Hardyston, N.J.) and junior Matt Lemoine (Stony Point, N.Y.).
Following Saturday's meet, the Pirates compete at the NCAA Regionals in Bethlehem, Pa. on Friday, Nov. 10, and wrap up the season at the IC4A ECAC Championship on Nov. 18 in Van Cortlandt Park, N.Y.
