
Pirates Travel to Yale Intercollegiate This Weekend

NEW HAVEN, CONN. - The Seton Hall women' golf team will return to the links on Friday, October 6 for the first of three rounds of golf at the 2017 Yale Women's Intercollegiate.

The Course:
Designed by champion golfer and co-founder of the USGA Charles Blair Macdonald, the par-71, 6,008-yard Yale Golf Course is an exemplar of the early American golf course and has consistently been voted the number one college golf course in America.

The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Yale, the field is comprised of 14 other teams including: Albany, Boston College, Boston University, Bucknell, Columbia, Delaware, Fairfield, Harvard, Lamar, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Quinnipiac, Stirling and UNC-Charlotte.

Seton Hall will be bringing the entire team to compete at Yale. The lineup and list of individuals is below, in order as indicated:

Last Time Out:
Sophomore Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) fired a career-best 1-under-par, 71, in Sunday's final round to help lift the Pirates to a fifth place finish at the Princeton Invitational last weekend. Staudt had four birdies in a strong final round effort, which is the first sub-par round of her young collegiate career. For the tournament, she finished with an 18-over-par, 83-80-71-234 to tie for 26th place overall.

Collectively, the Pirates saved their best effort for the final round. Seton Hall shot a 17-over-par, 305, on Sunday to jump one spot in the final standings. For the three-round event, The Hall finished at 63-over-par with a 316-306-305-927. The Pirates finished 22 strokes behind the team champion, Georgetown.

Two Pirates occupied the title as the top team performer for the weekend. Sophomore Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) put forth her best round of the weekend on Sunday with a 2-over-par, 74. For the tournament, she shot a 12-over-par, 76-78-74-228. Freshman Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) also finished at 12-over-par thanks to a strong second round. She ended with a 78-73-77-228. Win and Kness tied for 12th place overall.

Last Time at Yale:
Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) fired a career-best 1-under-par, 70, in the second round of the 2016 Yale Women's Intercollegiate and the Pirates finished in 13th place as the third round was cancelled due to rain. Sager was spectacular on Saturday, using three birdies to shoot her first career sub-par round. The Pirate newcomer had a sparkling back nine holes with two birdies and seven pars. Sager tied for 13th among 103 individual golfers with a 3-over-par, 75-70-145.

Collectively, the Pirates shaved three strokes off their first round score, finishing with a 14-over-par, 298. The Hall finished the tournament at 31-over-par with a 301-298-599. Columbia won the team title at 13-over-par.Â

Tee Times:
The field will play one round each day for three days. For Friday's first round, Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Yale and UNC-Charlotte and will tee off of the first hole with tee times beginning at 9:40 a.m. Â
