SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (3-1) rolled to the championship round of the SHU Thanksgiving Classic with a dominant 85-49 win over Rider (0-5) in Semifinal action on Saturday. Donnaizha Fountain (Roxbury, Mass.) and JaQuan Jackson (Killeen, Texas) combined for 39 points to lead the way for The Hall.
In a tremendous two-way performance, the Pirates held the Broncs to 28.1 percent shooting from the floor while connecting on a 50.0 percent clip themselves. The Hall built its lead early and took a double-digit lead after a quarter and was up 18 at the break. The Pirates continued their strong play into the second half, exploding for a 34-point third quarter to swell their lead to as many as 42 late in the third.
Head Coach Anthony Bozzella on the Result:
"I was obviously very pleased with our effort right from the start. We had eight days off and we used to correct some things and put ourselves in a better position to succeed. Whether we play East Carolina or Jacksonville State tomorrow we will have another big test in front of us and we are excited for the challenge."
