
Pirates To Host Thanskgiving Classic This Weekend

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- The Seton Hall women's basketball team (2-1) continues a season-long five-game homestand this weekend when it plays host to the 2017 SHU Thanskgiving Classic at Walsh Gym. The Pirates will welcome East Carolina (1-3), Jacksonville State (3-1) and Rider (0-4) to South Orange with two games each on Saturday, Nov. 25 and Sunday, Nov. 26. The Pirates kick off the action when they take on Rider at 12 p.m. on Saturday. Both Seton Hall games in the Classic will air live and FREE on the Pirate Sports Network with John Fanta and Sky Lindsay on the call.Â
In conjunction with the tournament, The Hall is partnering with Community Food Bank of New Jersey for a holiday food drive. Fans that bring a non-perishable food item to any of the four games will receive free admission to the contests. More information can be found at this link.Â

- The Hall suffered its first setback of the season on Nov. 16, falling by a score of 85-83 to regional rival Princeton
- In a back-and-forth contest that featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes, the Pirates led by five at halftime and trailed by one after three quarters
- The Tigers then opened the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run, going up by as many as 12 midway through the final stanza
- The Hall fought back to within a single possession twice in the final minute of regulation but could not complete the comeback
- Fountain led The Hall with 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Taylor Brown finished with a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double
- Also in double-figures for SHU were JaQuan Jackson with 13 and Deja Winters with 11 off the bench, including a trio of 3-pointers
- The Pirates shot a pristine 31-of-36 from the free throw line, including a 9-for-9 performance from Jackson and a 9-for-10 mark for Fountain
Following the Thanksgiving Classic, The Hall will be back at home on Thursday, Nov. 30 to take on Marist at 7 p.m.
