
Pirates Take Down Jefferson In Exhibition Tilt

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team used a big fourth quarter and a double-double from Donnaizha Fountain (Roxbury, Mass.) to pick up an 89-61 victory over Jefferson (formerly Philadelphia University) in an exhibition contest on Saturday at Walsh Gymnasium. Fountain led all players with 22 points and 10 rebounds in her first game as a Pirate.
In all, four Pirates scored in double-figures as The Hall shot 50.0 percent from the floor and committed only 10 turnovers in an efficient offensive performance. The Pirates led by only five at the half and 10 after three quarters, but exploded for a 27-9 edge in the fourth quarter to go up as many as 31 in the final frame.
Turning Point
Up 62-52 heading into the fourth quarter, the Pirates burst out of the gates in the closing stanza with a 17-3 run to push the lead to 79-55 before a timeout with 5:58 to play. Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia) scored five points during the run and Taylor Brown (Paterson, N.J.) and Selena Philoxy (Queens, N.Y.) both had a pair of lay-ups.
