
Sager Leads Field; Pirates Second at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – Sophomore Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) is the individual leader in the club house after two rounds of the 2017 William & Mary Invitational and has the Seton Hall women's golf team in second place with 18 holes left to play.
Sager had a strong round with a 2-over-par, 74, in round one, but was even more dominant in round two. The sophomore used five birdies to tie her career-best with a 2-under-par, 70, in round two. Through two rounds, she is even-par with a 74-70-144, and leads the field of 67 golfers by two strokes.
Sager is attempting to become the fifth Pirate to win an individual crown in program history.
Collectively, the Pirates were consistently excellent registering a pair of 8-over-par, 296, scores. The scores tie for the fifth-lowest par-72 single-round score in program history. Through two rounds, The Hall trails Penn State by just two strokes entering Monday's final round after a 16-over-par, 296-296-592 today. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Xavier, is currently sixth at 33-over-par.
Senior Cassie Pantelas (Canton, Ohio) is currently tied for 12th overall following a 6-over-par, 74-76-150, on Sunday. She is seeking her 10th career top-10 finish.
Sophomore Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) has had one terrific round and one disappointing round so far this tournament. She turned in a sparkling even-par, 72, in round one, but followed it up with a 7-over-par, 79, in the afternoon. Currently, she is tied for 16th place overall with a 7-over-par, 72-79-151.
One of the players tied with Win is Pirate newcomer Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.). The freshman is also 7-over-par with a 76-75-151 in an impressive collegiate debut.
Sophomore Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) shaved seven strokes off her first round score and is currently tied for 37th place overall with a 13-over-par, 82-75-157.

In addition to Seton Hall and host William & Mary, the field is comprised of 10 other teams including: Cincinnati, College of Charleston, James Madison, Penn State, Radford, South Florida, UNCW, USC-Beaufort, Western Carolina and Xavier. The Musketeers are the lone BIG EAST competition in the field.
Tee Times:
The field will play two rounds (36 holes) on Sunday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m., and a single final round on Monday. The Pirates will be paired with golfers from Penn State and UNC Wilmington on Monday.
