Pirates Edged 1-0 at Monmouth
9/4/2017 9:21:00 PM | Women's Soccer
West Long Branch, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's soccer team held an 11-6 advantage in shots, but ultimately fell 1-0 in a non-conference match at Monmouth on Monday night.
The Pirates (0-3-1) had several chances in each half and perhaps their best scoring opportunity with nine minutes remaining in the opening frame. Freshman Cassy Harrigan (Beaverton, Ore.) ripped a shot from mid-air that got past the Monmouth (2-2-1) keeper, but deflected off the top of the crossbar.
Turning Point
The Hawks scored the game's only goal off a corner in the 54th minute when Jess Johnson curled the entry into the top right corner of the goal, kicking from the left side.
Although the Pirates had a handful of shots at the equalizer, they were unable sustain a consistent attack for the remainder of the contest.
