
Gasser, Pirates Complete Sweep of DePaul

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Junior Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) tallied a season-high 12 kills, while teammates Caitlin Koska (Franklin, Wis.) and Sophia Coffey (Sierra Madre, Calif.) notched double-doubles as the Seton Hall women's volleyball team swept DePaul, 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-16), on Friday.
Gasser had a strong all-around match, compiling a team-high 12 kills, only two attack errors, and a .500 attack percentage. She also had a career-high six digs to go with three blocks.
Koska finished with 11 kills, only two attack errors, and 14 digs, while Coffey had a match-high 40 assists to go with 10 digs.
SET 1:
Seton Hall set the tone right away in set one, leading wire-to-wire after scoring the match's first seven points. After DePaul cut the lead to 11-7, the Pirates went on a 7-1 run to take a commanding 18-8 advantage. A kill by Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) put The Hall in set point, 24-18, and the ensuing kill by Koska won the set for the Pirates. Seton Hall had a match-high .467 attack percentage in the first set.
SET 2:
The second set was close until Seton Hall took off on a long run to assume control. Trailing 7-6, the Pirates went on a 12-1 run to leap ahead, 18-8. Leading 19-11, The Hall finished the set by scoring six of the final seven points to claim a dominant, 25-12, second set victory. Gasser had five kills and no attack errors in the second frame alone, and the Pirates' defense held the Blue Demons to a -.025 attack percentage.
SET 3:
DePaul scored the first point of the third set, but it would be their final lead of the match as Seton Hall scored five of the next six points, and never looked back. Leading 11-7, the Pirates scored three straight points, and a kill by Abby Thelen (Ft. Mitchell, Ky.) put them up, 14-7. The Blue Demons cut their deficit to four points, 19-15, but The Hall scored six of the final seven points, and Gasser's 12th kill of the night ended the set in Seton Hall's favor, 25-16.

The Pirates will return to action tomorrow when they remain home to host preseason BIG EAST favorite Marquette. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET.
