
Huge Offensive Day Leads Pirates To 102-80 Win

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (2-0) broke the century mark for the fourth time in program history, charging past Kennesaw State (1-1) by a score of 102-80 on Saturday inside Walsh Gym. The contest was the first of the Seton Hall Tip-Off Tournament.
Femi Funeus (Plantation, Fla.) led the way for four Pirates in double figures, as the freshman scored 21 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds in a breakout performance. Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia) and Kaela Hilaire (Queens, N.Y.) added 15 and 13 points, respectively, and each dished out six assists while Shadeen Samuels just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.
The Pirates connected on 50.8 percent of their field goals and knocked down nine 3-pointers in the victory, scoring more than 23 points in all four quarters. For the Owls, Kamiyah Street led a spirited effort with a huge 41-point performance.

Kennesaw State took an early 15-14 lead, but the Pirates answered emphatically with a 13-2 burst to take a double-digit lead at 27-17. Nicole Jimenez (Miami, Fla.) connected on a pair of 3-pointers during the run and Funeus added four points. The Pirates would take a five-point lead after a quarter, an advantage they stretch to 15 at the half. Midway through the third quarter Hilaire scored four straight points to give The Hall it's largest lead of the day at 71-45 and put the contest out of reach.
