PRINCETON, N.J. – Freshman Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) had the top round for the Seton Hall men's golf team on Saturday as the Pirates finished in a tie for eighth place at the rain-shortened Princeton Invitational.
Tait had a "Jekyll and Hyde" round, performing as well as an eagle on the par-5, 12th hole, but also suffering a triple-bogey on the par-4, 16th hole. In all, he finished with a 3-over-par, 74, on Saturday. For the tournament, Tait tied for 30th place with a 5-over-par, 73-74-147.
As a team, the Pirates had their share of difficulty in today's final round. A day after shooting an impressive even-par, 284, The Hall fired a 20-over-par, 304. They tied Saint Joseph's for eighth place with a 20-over-par, 284-304-588. Yale won the team title 2-over-par.
The top Pirate competitor for the weekend was once again Chris Yeom (Flushing, N.Y.). The junior also had a very up-and-down round two. Yeom bogeyed seven of his first eight holes and was 7-over-par on the front nine. However, he bounced back in a big way on the back nine, recording six pars and three birdies in route to a 3-under-par. Yeom narrowly missed his 11th career top-10, finishing in a tie for 11th place. He had a 1-over-par, 68-75-143.
Sophomore Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland) and freshman Andres Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas) finished the tournament tied for 42nd at 7-over-par with a 149. Chalk shot an 8-over-par, 79, on Saturday, while Acevedo had a 5-over-par, 76,
Rounding out the Pirates, senior Linus Yip (Sydney, Australia) shot a 9-over-par, 80, on Saturday to finish the tournament with a 14-over-par, 76-80-156.
