CINCINNATI, OHIO – Freshman Julia Wilkins (Mason, Ohio) had a team-high nine kills, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell at Xavier, 3-0 (19-25, 23-25, 17-25), on Friday.

In addition to her team-best seven kills, Wilkins also had seven digs and a service ace. For the second straight match, senior Maggie Cvelbar (Euclid, Ohio) finished one dig shy of a double-double, finishing with 28 assists and nine digs.

SET 1:
The first set was very close with neither team grabbing more than a two-point lead until mid-way through the set. An ace by Elizabeth Sottung (Westfield, N.J.) tied the score at 11, but Xavier answered with five straight points to take a 16-11 advantage. A kill by Wilkins cut the Pirates' deficit to 18-16, but it was the close they could get as Xavier went on to a 25-19 victory.

SET 2:
Seton Hall fell behind early, 6-4, but bounced back with an 8-1 run, capped by a kill by Cvelbar put The Hall on top, 12-7. The Musketeers answered with a 6-1 run of their own to tie the score at 13 and force a Seton Hall timeout. Another kill by Wilkins made the Pirates the first team to 20 points, 20-18, but Xavier responded with four points in a row to jump on top, 22-20. A kill by Haylee Gasser (Mission Viejo, Calif.) cut The Hall's deficit to 24-23, but Xavier scored the next point to edge the Pirates, 25-23.

SET 3:
Trailing 6-3 early in set three, Xavier scored six straight to take a 9-6 and never trailed again. The Musketeers methodically grew their lead in route to a 25-17 third set victory. Xavier had 19 kills, no attack errors and a .576 in the final stanza.

Wilkins had a team-best nine kills to go with seven digs.
Cvelbar had a team-high 28 assists and nine digs.
Gasser finished with eight kills.
Freshman Raygan Murray (Rocky River, Ohio) had a team-best 10 digs.
Seton Hall recorded a .171 attack percentage for the match, while Xavier attacked at .398.
The Pirates had 33 kills, while the Musketeers recorded 52.
The Hall finished with 45 digs, while Xavier tallied 49.

Seton Hall falls to 7-13 overall and 2-4 in BIG EAST Conference play.
The Pirates are now 3-10 all-time against Xavier.
The Hall drops to 4-9 in three-set matches.
With nine digs today, Cvelbar surpassed the 600-dig mark for her career.
