REHOBOTH BEACH, DEL. - The Seton Hall women' golf team will return to action this weekend for three rounds of golf at the 2019 Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational at Rohoboth Beach Country Club.
Â
Tournament Details:
LADY BLUE HEN INVITATIONAL
Host:Â University of Delaware
Location:Â Rehoboth Beach, Del.
Course:Â Rehoboth Beach Country Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-72, 6,169 yards
Dates:Â October 19-20, 2018, Three Rounds
Â
The Course:
Rehoboth Beach Country Club is the best golf course on the Eastern Shore inspiring golfers of all skill levels. Offering multiple tees, sculpted greens and fairways, challenging bunkers and ponds, as spectacular views greet golfers at every turn. Its proximity to the Rehoboth Bay provides a variety of changing winds and weather conditions which influence and enhance the experience.
Rehoboth Beach Country Club was the first golf course in Delaware to receive the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary designation from Audubon International in 2001. It is described as helping "golf courses protect our environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf." Being located in the fragile inland bay region, Rehoboth Beach Country Club embraces this effort and is proud to be one of only 906 courses world-wide to receive this designation.
Â
The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Delaware, the field is comprised of 10 other teams including: Albany, Dartmouth, Harvard, Delaware State, Navy, Oklahoma City University, Pennsylvania, Rutgers and Towson. BIG EAST opponent Georgetown is also a member of the field.
Â
The Lineup:
Seton Hall will be bringing the entire team to compete at Delaware. The lineup and list of individuals is below, in order as indicated:
Â
Last Time Out:
Senior Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) fired a 1-over-par, 73, in the final round to help lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to the 2019 Princeton Invitational title.
Â
Staudt was coming off her career-best tournament last week, a 1-over-par, tie for fifth place at the Nittany Lion Invitational, and managed to better herself. The senior tied for second place with a new career-low 3-under-par, 68-73-141.Â
Â
As a team, The Hall claimed their first title of the new year with a prestigious 1-under-par, 283-292-575. Host Princeton finished seven strokes behind The Hall. BIG EAST opponents St. John's and Georgetown finished 33 and 36 strokes respectively behind the Pirates. Seton Hall's 575 also sets a new program record for a two-round, par-72 tournament. The prior record was set last year at this event, a 15-over-par, 601.
Â
Last Time at Rehoboth Beach:
Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) became the sixth golfer in Seton Hall women's golf history to claim an individual title and lifted the Pirates to the team victory at the 2018 Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational.
Â
Win had two birdies and 12 pars in the final round in route to a 2-over-par, 73. Entering the final round, she trailed by three strokes, but was one of very few golfers to be able to withstand 25 mph winds, and vaulted to the individual lead. Win won her first individual title by two strokes with a 3-over-par, 69-74-73-216. Win's 216 breaks Seton Hall's par-71, three-round record by two strokes held previously by Karlie Zabrosky.
Â
Making it a clean sweep for Seton Hall, the Pirates claimed the team title after a third round 16-over-par, 310. Normally, an unattractive score, due to the wind, the Pirates' 310 was the top score of Sunday's third round. The Pirates were able to hold on to the team lead with a 38-over-par, 287-293-310-890.
Â
Tee Times:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Saturday, and one, final round on Sunday. For Saturday's rounds, the Pirates will be paired with golfers from Delaware and Rutgers with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round pairings will be determined by the golfers' Saturday performance with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
