
Pirates Fall On Sunday At Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (14-10, 6-7 BIG EAST) dropped an 80-71 decision at Creighton (11-13, 5-8 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia) led four Pirates in double-figures with 16 points, while Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) added 15 and six rebounds. Also in double-digits for The Hall were Kaela Hilaire (Queens, N.Y.) with 12 points and Shadeen Samuels (Ossining, N.Y.) with 10.
How It Happened
The Pirates led 20-10 after a quarter, but saw the Bluejays cut into their advantage and go to the half down 31-26. The Hall started strong in the third quarter and went up as many as 14, but a 20-4 run to end the period by Creighton gave CU a 52-50 lead after three frames.
In the fourth quarter, both Elmore and Samuels fouled out and Creighton took advantage with a 14-1 run midway through the frame that put CU up as many as 17 with three minutes to play. The Hall continued to fight and used a late 9-0 run get back within six in the final minute of regulation but it was too little too late and Creighton held on.

The Pirates are at Walsh Gym next weekend to play their final two regular season home games. First up is Seton Hall vs. Cancer night against DePaul on Friday, Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.

- The Hall falls to 4-9 all-time against Creighton and 2-4 at Sokol Arena
- Elmore scored in double-figures for the second-straight game off the bench and for the seventh time in BIG EAST play
- Samuels tied her career-high with eight assists
- Nicole Jimenez (Miami, Fla.) hit two 3-pointers and has connected on multiple trifectas in a game 18 times this seaon
