Wednesday marks an important game both on the court and in the stands. The Pirates are battling Georgetown and the winner will keep pace in the tight BIG EAST standings while also trying to raise awareness in the fight against cancer. The 12 active Seton Hall student-athletes will be wearing shooting shirts during warmups with the name of a person who has or is battling cancer. Those names came from an auction that has raised over $5,000 that will go to the American Cancer Society. Here are the names that you'll see on tomorrow night's shooting shirts:
0 - T. JENSEN
1 - C. BOWEN
2 - V. PAVLICK
13 - J. O'CONNOR
14 - K. CHANEY

Three Things to Know About Wednesday's Bout with Georgetown (And Cancer)
 1. Must Protect the Basketball
After an ugly stretch of turning over the basketball, the last two games have represented a return to normalcy for the Pirates, who committed only 10 at Butler and only 12 against Creighton. That must continue Wednesday against a Georgetown team that does not generate a ton of turnovers. In conference play, opponents are only turning it over an average of 10.5 against Georgetown, which has a -2.2 turnover margin in conference. If the Hoyas are not going to create havoc on the defensive end, the Pirates in turn must not commit unforced errors and give away possessions.
Â
2. Beware Georgetown's Interior
We've seen that Seton Hall can struggle with some of the bigger teams in the league. In conference play, the Hoyas are the top rebounding team (39.6 per game), second in rebounding margin (+3.0) and tops in blocked shots (4.4 per game). The Hall doesn't necessarily need to out-rebound the bigger Hoyas, but the Pirates need to be physical and at least limit Georgetown's offensive rebounding to avoid second chance opportunities.
 Â
3. Tempo Will Be Key
In conference play, Georgetown and Seton Hall are No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, in adjusted tempo, according to KenPom. The Hoyas are at 72.1 possessions per BIG EAST game. They want to play fast and outscore you. The Pirates more want to play fast in transition after defending well. The Hall will want to slow Georgetown down and get the Hoyas into a grindfest much like it did with Creighton. The game with the Bluejays was a success; the Pirates held Creighton to a season-low 58 points. Georgetown's season low is 52 points, but that came back on Nov. 16. Since then, the Hoyas' season low in scoring is 65.
