Pirates Fall To No. 8 Marquette On Senior Day

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's basketball team (14-12, 6-9 BIG EAST)) dropped a 109-63 decision to No. 8 Marquette (22-4, 13-1 BIG EAST) on Sunday afternoon at historic Walsh Gymnasium. The contest marked the final regular season home game for the Pirates with three to play before the postseason.
Prior to the contest, the Pirates honored their senior class of Inja Butina (Zagreb, Croatia), Victoria Cardaci (Holmdel, N.J.), Kaity Healy (Freehold, N.J.) and Nicole Jimenez (Miami, Fla.). Butina and Jimenez were among the three Pirates to finish in double-figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) led The Hall with 21 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the setback.
Marquette led for all but 2:10 of the contest, taking a double-digit lead after a quarter and cruising to its 13th win in 14 BIG EAST games. Natisha Hiedeman led the top-10 ranked Golden Eagles with 34 points and Danielle King added 20 with 12 assists.

- The Pirates struggled from the floor, shooting 31.8 percent (21-66) from the field and and 27.6 percent (8-29) from 3-point range
- On the other end Marquette shot a blistering 60.9 percent (42-69) from the floor and 50.0 percent (12-26) from distance
- The Golden Eagles out-rebounded the Pirates 45-32, but the Pirates managed a 9-3 edge in second chance points
- Marquette was +4 in turnover margin and out-scored SHU 24-7 off turnovers and 41-7 on the fast break
- The Hall finished with 16 assists on 21 field goals, a 76.2 percent mark
- The Pirates fall to 7-15 all-time against Marquette and have lost the last six in the series
- The Pirates finish the regular season slate with an 11-4 record at Walsh Gym
- Elmore has scored in double-figures in each of her last four games, netting 20 or more in three of those contests
- Jimenez knocked down a trio of 3-pointers, her 20th game this season with multiple trifectas
