PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Sammie Staudt (Coatesville, Pa.) fired a 1-over-par, 73, in Sunday's final round to help lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to the 2019 Princeton Invitational title.
Â
Staudt was coming off her career-best tournament last week, a 1-over-par, tie for fifth place at the Nittany Lion Invitational, and managed to better herself this weekend. The senior tied for second place with a new career-low 3-under-par, 68-73-141. She finished tied with Princeton's Grace Ni, three strokes behind the individual champion, Yale's Ami Gianchandani.
Â
After recording one top-5 finish in her first three years in South Orange, Staudt has achieved them in back-to-back weeks to begin her senior campaign. Her 141 shatters Seton Hall's previous par-72, two-round record of 146 set by Erin McClure at the Rutgers Invitational in 2013 and matched by Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) just last year at this event.

As a team, The Hall claimed their first title of the new year with a prestigious 1-under-par, 283-292-575. Host Princeton finished seven strokes behind The Hall. BIG EAST opponents St. John's and Georgetown finished 33 and 36 strokes respectively behind the Pirates.Â
Â
Seton Hall's 575 also sets a new program record for a two-round, par-72 tournament. The prior record was set last year at this event, a 15-over-par, 601.
Â
Through two tournaments so far this season, the most-impressive Pirate has been sophomore Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.). Coming off her first-ever individual title last week at the Nittany Lion Invitational, Fouratt fired a consistent 1-under-par, 72-71-143, becoming the first Pirate in Seton Hall history to record under-par scores in back-to-back tournaments. She finished fourth, notching her second Top-5 finish of the fall.
Â
Notching her second straight top-10 finish, and the eighth of her career, Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) tied for eighth with a 1-over-par, 69-76-145.Â
Â
Senior Carolina Ronchel Salas (Huelva, Spain) recorded four birdies on Sunday, finishing with a 3-over-par, 75. For the tournament, she tied for 18th place with a 5-over-par, 74-75-149.
Â
Senior Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) shot up the player leader board on Sunday, shaving eight strokes off her first-round score with a 1-over-par, 73. She finished tied for 42nd with a 10-over-par, 81-73-154.
Â
Competing as an individual, Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) tied her teammate Ronchel Salas for 18th place with a 5-over-par, 75-74-149.

The Course:
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â
 The Field:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field was comprised of 10 other teams including: Albany, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Rollins and Yale. A pair of BIG EAST opponents, Georgetown and St. John's are also in the field.
 Up Next:
Seton Hall will return to tournament play, Oct. 19-20, for three rounds of golf at Rohoboth Beach Country Club for the Delaware Lady Blue Hen Invitational.
