QUARTERFINALS
The Pirates drained 16 three-pointers, a single-game program record, in route to a comfortable 83-57 rout of fifth-seeded Butler in the quarterfinals of the 2020 BIG EAST Championship Saturday at Wintrust Arena yesterday.
Â
For a second straight game against Butler, Seton Hall never trailed, draining six three-pointers in the opening quarter to set the tone early. For the game, the Pirates' 16 made trifectas is one shy of tying the tournament record. Senior Alexis Lewis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) scored a game-high 20 points and matched her season-high with six made three-pointers. Freshman Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) erupted for a career-high 17 points to go with a game-high seven assists.
Â
Seton Hall started the game on fire from the field, three-pointers by Samuels, Lewis and Park-Lane enabled the Pirates to start the game with a 12-0 run. Butler didn't score until the 4:50 mark of the first quarter. Lewis' third made trifecta of the quarter extended The Hall's game-opening run to 18-2 with 2:58 left in the frame.
Â
A late Butler run cut their deficit to just nine at the end of the first quarter, but the second quarter belonged to the Pirates. Leading 36-25, The Hall closed out the first half with a 9-0 run, keeping Butler off the scoreboard for the final 4:08. A third Park-Lane three-pointer with only 38 seconds left before halftime gave the Pirates a commanding 48-25 advantage at the break.
Â
THIS SEASON AGAINST DE PAUL
Seton Hall was swept in the 2019-20 season series against DePaul, but both games were close through three quarters.
Â
The Hall trailed by only seven points with 42 seconds left on Jan. 10 at DePaul, but ultimately fell as the Pirates were out-scored 17-to-9 in the fourth. Barbara Johnson recorded her first career double-double with 17 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Â
In the rematch, the Pirates trailed by only one point with 6:05 left in the game, but DePaul went on to a 10-point victory at Walsh Gym on Feb. 9. Freshman Mya Jackson had a team-high 19 points off the bench in the loss.

SCOUTING DE PAUL
The Blue Demons are coming off a strong 26-8 season, which included their second straight BIG EAST Championship. DePaul edged Marquette, 74-73, in the championship game to claim the title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. DePaul's postseason run was cut short in the first round however, by Missouri State in the first round.
Â
This year, DePaul has continued its recent excellence. The regular season BIG EAST champions enter Sunday's contest with a 26-5 overall record and ranked No. 18 in the country. The Blue Demons are coming off a convincing 95-59 victory over Providence in the tournament quarterfinals on Saturday. Deja Church had 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists to lead the way.
Â
DePaul has four players currently averaging at least 10.9 points per game. First Team All-Conference performer Chante Stonewall leads the team at 17.2 points per game.
