
Trio Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf Scholars

NORMAN, OKLA. – Seton Hall's Alex Chalk (Castle Douglas, Scotland), Deven Ramachandran (San Rafael, Calif.) and Gregor Tait (Martlesham Heath, England) were named 2020 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday.

All three Pirates are receiving the prestigious academic honor for the first time.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in there last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university. For 2019-20 only, they must have participated in 40% of the team's competitive rounds

Chalk played in seven of eight tournaments last year and maintained a 75.00 scoring average for the year. The 2020 graduate tied for 15th place with a year-best 2-under-par, 70-70-74-214, at the Loyola Invitational. He finished with one sub-par tournament and three sub-par rounds for 2019-20.

Despite mid-year shoulder surgery, Ramachandran played in seven of eight tournaments and averaged 75.16 strokes per round. He had one top-10 finish, a ninth-place tie at the Hamptons Collegiate with a 13-over-par, 81-76-72-229.

Tait had one sub-par tournament and four sub-par rounds, while maintaining a 74.43 scoring average for the year, which ranked 15th-best in the BIG EAST Conference. The rising senior erupted for a year-best 3-under-par, 70-69-74-213, tying for 12th place, at the Hartford Hawks Invitational.
