LAST YEAR AGAINST XAVIER
Last year, Seton Hall swept the home-and-home series against Xavier with an 83-61 victory at the Cintas Center on New Year's Eve and a 69-59 win in Walsh Gym on Feb. 28.
Â
In their last game, four Pirates scored in double-figures as the Pirates overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Xavier, 69-59, on Feb. 28 for its 10th BIG EAST victory of the season.
Â
Alexis Lewis had a game-high 21 points, despite on off-shooting night from three-point range. She also had a game-high 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
Â
Trailing 41-40 in the third quarter, the Pirates went on a 7-0 run, and a layup by Elmore gave them a 47-41 advantage with 3:20 left in the period. After the Musketeers cut their deficit to five points, 49-44, The Hall went on an 8-1 run that spilled into the fourth quarter, and a three-pointer by Lewis gave it its largest lead of the game, 57-45, with 8:45 left to play in the game.
Â
SCOUTING XAVIER
The Musketeers are coming off a dreadful 3-27 season overall and a 2-16 mark in BIG EAST play. Their victories came in their opener against Utah, at Georgetown on Jan. 10 and at home against Providence on Feb. 21.
Â
This year, Xavier is predicted to finish ninth in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll. A'riana Gray was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â
Â
To date, the Musketeers have already surpassed their win total of a year ago. They enter Saturday's contest with a 4-4 record overall and a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST play. After starting the season with three straight wins, they've dropped four of their last five. They're coming off a pause and haven't played since a 53-50 loss to Creighton on Jan. 3.
