Carmel, Ind. – In his first BIG EAST Championship, Patrick Wagner (Jenkintown, PA.) was able to pace the Pirates at Northview Church on a muddy course, doing so in a time of 27:16.4 on Friday morning. For Wagner it was his third time leading Seton Hall in six meets thus far this season.
Following Wagner was Declan Harkness (Stewartsville, N.J.) who finished the 8k course in a time of 27:26.7. Harkness has now finished as a top-five Pirate in every meet this season. Taking the third spot for the Pirates was Cole Kretlow (Oakland, Calif.) who crossed the finish line in a time of 27:46.2, solidifying his spot as a top-three Pirate-finisher in each of The Hall's six meets of the 2021 fall season.
Rounding out the top-five for Seton Hall was Nicholas Minikel (Milltown, N.J.) and Brandin Affrunti (Staten Island, N.Y.). The duo finished the course in times of 28:01.9 and 28:17.4, respectively. Coming in just behind Affrunti was Justin Allone (Holtsville, N.Y.) in a time of 28:21.4 while AAndrew Walde (Edmonds, WA.) closed out the top-seven finishers for the Pirates. Senior Jacob Wozar (Newark, Del.) and freshman Peter Smutelovic also competed for the Pirates at BIG EAST Championships.
Now in his 50th season as a head coach at Seton Hall, John Moon was honored by the BIG EAST conference for his dedication and service to the sport following Friday's races.
The Pirates will have some time off before running again in postseason action including the IC4A/ECAC Championships on Nov. 20 at Van Cortlandt Park.
