THE GAME
Seton Hall will return to action on Sunday, December 5 when it continues BIG EAST Conference play in Queens against St. John's. Tip time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.Â

Junior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) had a team-high 20 points, but the Seton Hall women's basketball team fell to No. 2 Connecticut, 74-49, in a sold-out Walsh Gymnasium on Friday.

For the second straight game against the Huskies, the Pirates had a lead after the first quarter, but UConn outscored The Hall, 23-6, in the second quarter to pull away.

Park-Lane had 20 points to go with a team-best five assists and four rebounds. Junior Mya Jackson (Wilmington, Ohio) and Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) also reached double-figures in scoring, notching 14 and 13 points respectively.

The injury-depleted Pirates also got a career-best performance out of junior Kailah Harris (Ossining, N.Y.). the 6-foot-1 forward registered career-highs of six points and eight rebounds in a career-most 24 minutes off the bech.

LAST YEAR AGAINST ST. JOHN'S
Last year, Seton Hall swept the home-and-home series with St. John's routing the Red Storm, 87-64, in Walsh Gym on Jan. 20.

Desiree Elmore erupted for a career-high 30 points and the Pirates defeated St. John's, 59-43, in the regular season finale on March 1 to clinch the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament.

Seton Hall held the Red Storm to just 34.5% shooting from the field and 3-for-20 from three-point range. In a dominant first-half defensive showing, the Pirates held St. John's to just 18 points, including only six in the second quarter.

SCOUTING ST. JOHN
The Red Storm are coming off a disappointing 8-15 season during a pandemic-abbreviated 2020-21 season. St. John's defeated Xavier in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament, but their season came to an end with a 77-41 loss to UConn in the quarterfinals.

This year, St. John's is predicted to finish seventh in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Leilani Correa was unanimously named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â

St. John's will open the BIG EAST portion of their schedule against the Pirates on Sunday. They enter the matchup with a 3-4 overall record, but having lost their last three contests. Most recently, the Red Storm fell to No. 19 UCLA, 73-65, on Nov. 28. St. John's three victories this season have come over FDU, Yale and at Temple. Leilani leads the team with 18.0 points per game.

Seton Hall will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 11 when it faces local non-conference rival Princeton. Tip time is scheduled for Noon. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
