LAST GAMEÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Senior Desiree Elmore (Hartford, Conn.) had a double-double and recorded her 1,000th career point as the Pirates upended Providence, 67-55, in Walsh Gym on Saturday.
Â
Seton Hall trailed for only 3:48 during the game, taking control with a 12-2 run that began late in the first quarter. The Pirate lead got as large as 23 points in the third quarter, and despite a lengthy Providence run in the fourth, their advantage was never cut to single digits.
Â
Elmore erupted for game-highs of 23 points and 12 rebounds for her third double-double in the last four games. She also had four assists and two steals in another fine all-around performance. Elmore's 1,000 points include 55 while playing for Syracuse as a freshman. She's currently needs just 49 points to become the 23rd player to record 1,000 points in a Pirate uniform.
Â
Three other Pirates also reached double-figures in scoring. Sophomore Mya Jackson (Wilmington, Ohio) had 14 points on the strength of three-made three-pointers. Andra Espinoza-Hunter (Ossining, N.Y.) had 13 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) had 10 points and a team-best five assists.

EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST XAVIER
Graduate Andra Espinoza-Hunter erupted for a game-high 28 points and the Seton Hall women's basketball team cruised to an 85-59 victory over Xavier on Saturday for its fifth straight win.
Â
The Pirates trailed for only 16 seconds in the very beginning of the game, routing the Musketeers in a "foul fest" to improve to 6-2 in the BIG EAST Conference for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
Â
Espinoza-Hunter had a game-best 28 points on 10-for-20 shooting, including four made three-pointers. Senior Desiree Elmore and sophomore Mya Jackson each added 13 points.
Â
SCOUTING XAVIER
The Musketeers are coming off a dreadful 3-27 season overall and a 2-16 mark in BIG EAST play. Their victories came in their opener against Utah, at Georgetown on Jan. 10 and at home against Providence on Feb. 21.
Â
This year, Xavier is predicted to finish ninth in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll. A'riana Gray was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â
Â
The Musketeers have had a tough time navigating the COVID-19-shortened 2020-21 schedule. To date, Xavier has played a conference-low eight BIG EAST games, checking in with a 1-7 record. The Musketeers defeated Providence on New Year's Eve, but haven't won since, dropping their last five contests, including a game against the Pirates in Walsh Gym on Jan. 23.
Â
Most recently, Xavier fell at Butler, 73-61, on Monday. A'riana Gray led the team with 23 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
Â
UP NEXT
