
Win Excels as Pirates Finish Play at Sugar Bowl Event

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) shot a team-best 2-over-par, 74, in Tuesday's final round to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to a 12th place finish at the 2021 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.

Win recorded four birdies in her final round to shave seven strokes off her round two score. For the tournament, she tied for 32nd place among 81 individual golfers with a 15-over-par, 76-81-74-231. One of the players she tied was teammate Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.), who was consistent throughout the three days. Fouratt shot a 6-over-par, 78, on Tuesday to finish with a 15-over-par, 77-76-78-231 for the tournament.Â

Win and Fouratt finished 16 strokes behind the individual champion, Nebraska's Kate Smith.

Collectively, the Pirates shaved six strokes off their second-round score, and finished the same as they did during the first round, 22-over-par with a 310. For the three-day event, Seton Hall was 72 strokes over par with a 310-316-310-936. Nebraska won the team title at 20-over-par.

Mia Kness (Venetia, Pa.) also shot a 6-over-par, 78, on Tuesday. The senior closed out her first tournament of the spring tied for 53rd with a 21-over-par, 77-82-78-237.

Maddie Sager (Phoenixville, Pa.) shot a 9-over-par, 81, in round three, and finished just one stroke behind Kness in the final tournament standings. The graduate student clubbed a 22-over-par, 80-77-81-238, over the three days.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup is sophomore Ludovica Busetto (Padova, Italy), who turned in her best round of the tournament on Tuesday with an 8-over-par, 80. Busetto finishes the tournament with a 32-over-par, 85-83-80-248.

Freshman Ginevra Ricciardelli (Rome, Italy), competing as an individual finished the tournament with a 29-over-par, 79-85-81-245.

This Jack Nicklaus Signature Design, Par 72 Championship Golf Course presents a unique challenge to golfers of all skill levels. Every hole has an individual personality including numerous bunkers, large waste bunkers, plentiful grass depressions and mounds which line the sculpted fairways. The property was designed with meandering lakes surrounding the golf course giving a separation from the community and a magnificent Plantation Style Clubhouse making your visit at English Turn an unparalleled experience.

The Signature Course at English Turn was originally designed in 1988 for the New Orleans PGA Tour event, which was held at the facility until 2004 and in 2006 following Hurricane Katrina. The Inaugural event was the USF and G Classic in 1989 and the course proved to be a challenge for the PGA Tour with notoriously undulating greens, water in play on seventeen of the eighteen holes and the signature fifteenth Island Green. In Addition, the 18th Hole had been ranked the hardest hole on tour many times during the tournament tenure.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Tulane, the field featured 11 other teams including: Central Arkansas, Chattanooga, Louisiana-Monroe, Loyola, McNeese State, Nebraska, Rutgers, Southern Mississippi, Southern Methodist, Texas State and Wisconsin.
