The Hall Heads to Georgia State Invitational, Monday
3/28/2021 10:00:00 AM | Women's Golf
JOHNS CREEK, GA. - The Seton Hall women's golf team will return to tournament action on Monday with the first two of three rounds of golf at the Georgia State Invitational at Rivermont Club.
Â
Tournament Details:
GEORGIA STATE INVITATIONAL
Host:Â Georgia State University
Location:Â Johns Creek, Ga.
Course:Â Rivermont Golf Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-72, 6,075 yards
Dates:Â March 29-30, 2021
Â
THE COURSE:
Rivermont's centerpiece is the Championship 18-Hole Golf Course originally designed by Joe Lee which underwent a complete re-design by golf course designer, Michael Riley in 2006. The improvements transformed what was already an excellent layout and course into one of the most critically acclaimed courses in Georgia today. Over the last forty-seven years the course has maintained the integrity and beauty of the natural environment and continues to challenge to the low handicapper as well as the new player. Continued improvements over the years, specifically in 2015-2016 and 2019-2020 have helped elevate Rivermont's reputation among golfers both locally and even nationally.
Â
Rivermont has been honored to host nearly thirty qualifiers for the United States Golf Association (local qualifying for the US Open and sectional qualifying for the US Senior Open, the US Mid-Amateur, the US Women's Mid-Amateur and the Men's Four-Ball Championship) as well as more than a dozen Atlanta Amateur Championships for the Georgia State Golf Association. We have also hosted events for the Georgia Section of the PGA, the Atlanta Junior Golf Association and the Southern Golf Association. In 2018, Rivermont hosted the Georgia State Golf Association Junior Championship in June and in 2019 Rivermont Golf Club received an award as the "Best Golf Club" in Johns Creek. In 2023, Rivermont will host the Georgia State Amateur Championship.
THE FIELD:
In addition to Seton Hall and host Georgia State, the large field features 15 other teams including: Albany, Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Eastern Michigan, Florida International, High Point, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Little Rock, North Dakota, South Alabama, Winthrop, Wofford and BIG EAST rival Xavier.
Â
THE SETON HALL LINEUP:
Lizzie Win (Sylvania, Ohio) shot a team-best 2-over-par, 74, in the final round to lead the Seton Hall women's golf team to a 12th place finish at the 2021 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate on March 16.
Â
Win recorded four birdies in her final round to shave seven strokes off her round two score. For the tournament, she tied for 32nd place among 81 individual golfers with a 15-over-par, 76-81-74-231. One of the players she tied was teammate Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.), who was consistent throughout the three days. Fouratt shot a 6-over-par, 78, on Tuesday to finish with a 15-over-par, 77-76-78-231 for the tournament. Win and Fouratt finished 16 strokes behind the individual champion, Nebraska's Kate Smith.
Â
Collectively, the Pirates shaved six strokes off their second-round score, and finished the same as they did during the first round, 22-over-par with a 310. For the three-day event, Seton Hall was 72 strokes over par with a 310-316-310-936. Nebraska won the team title at 20-over-par.
