South Orange, N.J. -Â The Seton Hall men's cross country team has announced its schedule for the 2021 season. Following an abbreviated 2020 campaign in which the Pirates' lone cross country action took place at BIG EAST Championships, the Pirates will rebound with nine scheduled meets for the 2021 slate.
The Pirates will kick off the season with the Salisbury Fall Classic, a meet the Pirates had success in to start the 2019 season earning a second-place team result while placing five Pirates in the top 15 including returners John Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.), Cole Kretlow (Oakland, Calif.), Brandin Affrunti (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Nicholas Minikel (Milltown, N.J.).
With a new addition to the Pirates' schedule this year is a meet at Rowan on Sept. 11 before packing the bags for Daytona Beach, Fla., to take part in the Embry Riddle Invitational on Sept. 25, a meet The Hall last competed in in 2018.
Entering October, the Pirates will run two familiar meets from 2019 at NJIT on Oct. 2, followed by the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Oct. 8. The Pirates earned a third-place team finish at NJIT two seasons ago with Affrunti leading The Hall at the front.
The Pirates will then head to Lafayette on Oct. 16, for a final tune up before traveling to Northview Church in Carmel, Ind., to take part in the 2021 BIG EAST Championships. Pacing the Pirates at BIG EAST last season was Declan Harkness (Stewartsville, N.J.) followed by returners Justin Allone (Holtsville, N.Y.), Minikel, Andrew Walde (Edmonds, WA.), James Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.), Jadon Parris, Daniel Washburn (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Grant Tokarski (Brick, N.J.).
