
Lucas Nets All-Tournament, But Pirates Fall at UNF

Lucas leads the Pirates with nine kills, while Jakubowski tallies her third straight double-double.
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Sophomore Perri Lucas (Chicago, Ill.) was named to the UNF Sunshine Invitational All-Tournament Team, and had a team-high nine kills on Saturday, but the Seton Hall women's volleyball team fell to host North Florida, 3-0 (23-25, 18-25, 23-25).

Lucas had nine kills and only three attack errors, leading the Pirate offense for the third time during the tournament. Â Sophomore Taylor Jakubowski (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) registered her third straight double-double with a team-high 21 assists to go with 14 digs.

Middle blockers Madison Frusha (Huntsville, Texas) and Amanda Rachwal (Bethlehem, Pa.) combined for 15 kills and only one attack error. Frusha had eight kills and one error, while Rachwal had seven kills and no errors. Both Pirates had a .538 attack percentage.

SET 1:
Seton Hall scored the first four points of the match to assume control early. Leading 9-7, the Pirates scored three straight, and a kill by Lucas gave them a five-point lead, 12-7. A kill by Frusha gave The Hall a 17-15 cushion, but UNF responded with three straight points to take their first lead of the match. From there, the score was tied seven more times until the Ospreys scored the final two points with the score tied at 23. Both teams had an attack percentage over .345 in an exciting opening set.

SET 2:
With the score tied at four, North Florida scored four straight to take an early 8-4 lead in set two. An ace by Rachwal cut the Pirates' deficit to just two points, 18-16, but the Ospreys finished the set with a 7-2 run. North Florida had 15 kills, just one attack error, and a .452 attack percentage in set two.

Seton Hall charged out of the gates in the third set, scoring the first seven points, capped by a kill by Frusha. The Pirate lead grew to as many as eight points, 15-7, on an ace by Jakubowski, which prompted a UNF timeout. Out of the break, the Ospreys found new life, going on an 11-3 run to tie the set at 18. The score was tied four more times, but with the score knotted at 23, North Florida found the final two points to win the set.

Seton Hall will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 21 when it concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule at NJIT. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
