
Bechadergue Breaks Pirate Record; Pirates Finish Fifth

Margot Bechadergue places fourth with a 211, which shatters Seton Hall's par-72 record.
STATE COLLEGE, PA. – Graduate transfer Margot Bechadergue (Aix-En-Provence, France) fired an even-par, 72, to lift the Seton Hall women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

Bechadergue recorded four birdies in route to an even-par, 72, in the final round on Sunday. For the tournament, she placed fourth among 85 individual golfers with a 5-under-par, 71-68-72-211. Bechadergue finished five strokes behind the individual champion, Penn State's Mathilde Delavallade.

Bechadergue's 211 shatters Seton Hall's single-tournament three-round, par-72 score by three strokes. The prior record was shot by current teammate Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) and Maddie Sager at the Nittany Lion Invitational in 2019.

As a team, the Pirates the Pirates shot an 8-over-par, 296, in Sunday's final round and finished in fifth place among 14 teams.  For the three-round event, The Hall fired a 12-over-par, 296-284-296-876. Penn State won the team title at 13-under-par. Delaware finished second at 1-under-par. Seton Hall's lone BIG EAST competition, Georgetown, finished in seventh place at 20-over-par.

Senior Sarah Fouratt recorded four birdies in route to a 1-over-par, 73, on Sunday to finish tied for 21st place overall with a 5-over-par, 79-69-73-221. Tied with Fouratt was freshman Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain). Sarrias Pro finished her first collegiate tournament with a 3-over-par, 75, to finish with a 74-72-75-221.

Junior Ludovica Busetto (Padova, Italy) was the third-best Pirate to finish this weekend. She shot a 4-over-par, 76, on Sunday to finish the event tied for 42nd with a 9-over-par with a 74-75-76-225.

Rounding out the Pirate team scoring was sophomore Ginevra Ricciardelli (Rome, Italy). She finished up her first tournament of the fall with a 5-over-par 77. She finished the three-round event with an 18-over-ar, 77-80-77-234.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Sasha Amelang (Houston, Texas) finished her first tournament of the year with a 13-over-par, 85. She tallied a 39-over-par, 83-87-85-255 for the three rounds.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Penn State, the field was comprised of 12 other teams including: Akron, Boston College, Bucknell, Delaware, Harvard, James Madison, Pennsylvania, Princeton, Rutgers, Towson and Youngstown State. Also in the field is BIG EAST opponent, Georgetown.

THE SCHEDULE:
The field played two continuous rounds (36 holes) on Saturday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m., and a single, final round on Sunday. Sunday's shotgun start will begin at 8:30 a.m. Seton Hall will be paired with golfers from Boston College and James Madison for the first two rounds.
