- The 20th ranked Seton Hall men's basketball team will head to the Midwest to embark on a tough two-game road swing starting with a 5 p.m. Eastern contest at DePaul on Thursday.
- After starting 0-2 in the BIG EAST for the first time under head coach Kevin Willard, the Pirates have won their last two in league play.
- Their latest victory was a thrilling 90-87 overtime win over Connecticut on Saturday, their third Quadrant One victory of the season.
- Despite missing two critical interior pieces (7-2 graduate student Ike Obiagu and 6-10 junior Tyrese Samuel) following a COVID pause, the Pirates lost two games to two ranked BIG EAST opponents by a combined 11 points.
- Obiagu has averaged five points and four blocks in two wins over BIG EAST teams since his return on Jan. 4.
- The Pirates have only played with their full compliment of players once this season in their road win at No. 4 Michigan on Nov. 16.
- With Seton Hall's win over Rutgers on Dec. 12, Kevin Willard passed P.J. Carlesimo (213 wins) and is now in sole possession of second on Seton Hall's all-time wins list.
- This is the first season in program history where the Pirates defeated two top 10 non-conference opponents in the regular season.
- The Hall is one of only four programs in the country with multiple wins over top 10 teams this season (Baylor, Duke, Gonzaga).
- The Pirates are one of only three teams in college basketball along with Wisconsin (No. 3 Purdue, 74-69) and Miami (No. 2 Duke, 76-74) with a true top five road win (No. 4 Michigan, 67-65).
- The Pirates lead the BIG EAST and rank 39th in the country in three-point FG percentage defense (29.2 percent).
- The Hall has been one of the top teams in the country in taking care of the ball, ranking 25th nationally and second in the BIG EAST with only 10.7 turnovers per game.
- The Pirates have held eight of its first 14 opponents to 65 points or less and currently rank 26th in adjusted defensive efficiency by KenPom.
- Seton Hall is currently 26th in the NET, 26th in KenPom and 20th in the AP Top 25.
- The Pirates are 105-17 (.861) since 2016-17 when they attempt more free throws than their opponent.
- This season, Seton Hall ranks 24th in Division I in free throws made (235) and 36th in free throw attempts (306).
- The Hall is 123-18 (.872) since 2015-16 when its lead gets to seven points.
- Under Willard, the Pirates are 88-9 (.907) when they score 80 points or more.
- Seton Hall was ranked in the AP Top 25 for the eighth consecutive week on Monday as the Pirates stayed in at No. 20.
- Obiagu has registered a block in 23 consecutive games going back to last season, the longest streak in the country.
- Graduate student Alexis Yetna (Paris, France) is averaging 12.3 points and 9.7 rebounds with two double-doubles for the Pirates in three conference games.
- Graduate student Bryce Aiken (Randolph, N.J.) has been a force in closing out games this season with 57 total points in the final five minutes of regulation and overtime through 13 games played.
- Senior guard Jared Rhoden (Baldwin, N.Y.) has scored in double figures in 12 of 13 games.
- He became the 47th player in program history to score 1,000 points following his last made field goal in overtime against Connecticut on Jan. 8.
- Graduate Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) became Seton Hall's all-time leader in games played with 136 when he stepped on the floor against UConn.
