LAST GAMEÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Junior Lauren Park-Lane (Wilmington, Del.) had a season-high 30 points, and Andra Espinoza-Hunter (Ossining, N.Y.) recorded her 1,000th career point as the Seton Hall women's basketball team routed Providence, 62-42, on Sunday.
Â
Seton Hall used their best defensive effort of the season to record their first BIG EAST road victory of the season. The Pirates forced 20 turnovers and held the Friars to just 25.9% shooting from the floor, including 0-for-11 from three-point range.
Â
Park-Lane was brilliant, going for 30 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals in a stellar all-around game. Espinoza-Hunter finished with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Senior Sidney Cooks (Kenosha, Wis.) tallied a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds to go with five blocks.

Earlier this Season: St. John's 88, Seton Hall 75 (F) – December 5, 2021
Â
EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST ST. JOHN'S
Junior Mya Bembry (West Orange, N.J.) collected her first career double-double and Lauren Park-Lane had a team-high 23 points, but the Pirates fell at St. John's, 88-75, on Dec. 5.
Â
The Red Storm used a 7-0 run to end the first quarter and take an eight-point lead into the second, and that proved to be the difference. The teams played mostly even basketball for the final three stanzas. St. John's shot 58.9% from the field for the game, by far a season-high for a Pirate opponent, and were only called for one foul over the game's first 31:09.
Â
Bembry made her first start of the season and matched her career-high with 14 points in the first half alone. She pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds and played a career-most 38 minutes.   Park-Lane had a team-high 23 points and a game-high seven assists with just one turnover. Sidney Cooks had 17 points, four rebounds and a career-high five assists.
Â
SCOUTING ST. JOHN'S
The Red Storm are coming off a disappointing 8-15 season during a pandemic-abbreviated 2020-21 season. St. John's defeated Xavier in the opening round of the BIG EAST Tournament, but their season came to an end with a 77-41 loss to UConn in the quarterfinals.
Â
This year, St. John's is predicted to finish seventh in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Â Leilani Correa was unanimously named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.Â
Â
St. John's enters Wednesday's contest with a 5-10 overall record and a 1-4 mark in BIG EAST play, with their lone win coming over the Pirates. The Red Storm have lost six straight games and most recently dropped a pair of road contests at Creighton and at Providence last weekend. Leilani Correa currently leads the BIG EAST averaging 20.5 points per game.
