- The Seton Hall men's basketball team will square off against Georgetown for the 114th time on Tuesday as the Pirates travel to Washington, D.C. for an 8:30 p.m. contest against the Hoyas on FS1.
- Seton Hall has started 3-6 in BIG EAST play and recovered to make the NCAA Tournament three previous times (1987-88, 1993-94, 2016-17):
- The 2016-17 team under Kevin Willard started 3-6 and then won seven of nine to finish 10-8 while also reaching the BIG EAST Tournament semifinals. The team earned a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
- KenPom currently ranks Seton Hall's schedule as the 14th toughest in the country.
- February has been a good month for the Pirates in recent years as they've gone 27-17 since 2015-16 in the calendar's second month.
- Of the Pirates' three league wins this season, two have come on the road.
- Seton Hall is currently 42nd in the NET and 44th in KenPom.
- Seton Hall is 5-6 this season against Q1 and Q2 competition.
- Outside of the loss to St. John's on Jan. 24 at Walsh Gymnasium, Seton Hall's other five losses in conference play were by a combined 26 points and its average margin of defeat was 5.2 points.
- Two of those defeats (at No. 21 Providence Dec. 29, vs. No. 22 Villanova Jan. 1) came without two critical interior pieces in 7-2 graduate student Ike Obiagu and 6-10 junior Tyrese Samuel.
- The win over St. John's on Jan. 22 at Madison Square Garden marked the ninth time this season that The Hall held its opponent to 65 points or less.
- Seton Hall is 10-0 this season when it holds its opponents to 69 points or less and 9-0 when its either leading or tied at halftime.
- This is the first season in program history where the Pirates defeated two top 10 non-conference opponents in the regular season.
- The Hall is one of seven programs in the country with multiple wins over top 10 teams this season (Baylor, Duke, Gonzaga, Oregon, UCLA, Alabama).
- The Pirates are one of only two teams in college basketball, along with Kentucky (at No. 5 Kansas, 80-62) that secured a true top five road win in the non-conference (at No. 4 Michigan, 67-65).
- The Pirates rank 46th in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage defense (40.3 percent) and 22nd in the country in total rebounds per game (40.2).
- Seton Hall is ranked in the top 75 in KenPom in both adjusted offensive efficiency (75th) and adjusted defensive efficiency (47th).
- The Pirates are 106-20 (.841) since 2016-17 when they attempt more free throws than their opponent.
- This season, Seton Hall leads the BIG EAST in free throws made (329) and free throw attempts (429) and its 76.7 percent clip from the free-throw line ranks 28th in Division I.
- The Hall is 124-18 (.873) since 2015-16 when its lead gets to seven points.
- Under Kevin Willard, the Pirates are 88-10 (.898) when they score 80 points or more.
- Ike Obiagu has registered a block in 28 consecutive games going back to last season, the longest active streak in the country, and is averaging 4.8 blocks and seven rebounds over the last five games.
- Obiagu's four blocks vs. Marquette on Jan. 26 pushed him past Samuel Dalembert to become the program's career leader in blocked shots with 169.
- Graduate student Bryce Aiken (Randolph, N.J.) has been a force in closing out games this season with 72 total points in the final five minutes of regulation and overtime through 15 games played (4.8 ppg).
- Graduate student Alexis Yetna (Paris, France) is nearly averaging a double-double in BIG EAST play with 9.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
