Philadelphia, Pa. — Despite an efficient afternoon overall offensively, the Seton Hall men's basketball team could not leave the Wells Fargo Center with a win as the Pirates fell to No. 15 Villanova, 73-67, on Saturday.
Junior Tray Jackson (Detroit, Mich.) shot 4-of-6 from three-point range and finished with 16 points. Sophomore Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also had 16 for the Pirates (15-8, 6-7 BIG EAST) and he also dished out five assists.

How It Happened
The Pirates came out strong offensively as graduate student Myles Cale (Middletown, Del.) hit consecutive three-point baskets that gave Seton Hall an early six-point lead, 21-15, with 10:18 left in the first half.started the game 6-of-9 from three-point range but seven early turnovers helped keep the Wildcats in the game.
Later, Villanova used a 7-0 run to take a 27-24 lead but Richmond was fouled behind the three-point line on the next possession and made all three free throws that tied up the score, 27-27, with 5:21 left before the half.
After Jermaine Samuels drove to the basket and converted a layup that made it 29-27 with 4:29 to play in the first half, Richmond knotted up the score on a layup of his own and later hit a three that gave Seton Hall a 32-29 advantage. A defensive stop on the next Villanova possesion and a massive swat on the perimeter by graduate student Ike Obiagu (Abuja, Nigeria) kept the Pirates lead at three heading into the locker room.
Villanova used an 8-0 run to go up 45-41 early in the second half but the Pirates responded in a big way with an 11-0 run, capped off by a pull-up three-point basket by graduate student Jamir Harris (North Brunswick, N.J.), to take a seven-point lead, 52-45, with 10:58 to go.
It became a back-and-forth contest from that point forward but the Wildcats created some separation on a made three-pointer that gave them a five-point lead, 62-57, with 4:35 to go. However, back-to-back threes by Tray Jackson quickly put the Pirates back in front, 63-62, with 3:14 left in the game.
The two teams traded the lead with just over two minutes left and Jackson made two free throws that tied the game up at 67-67 at the 1:54 mark but Villanova would finish the game on a 6-0 run, capitalizing on key offensive rebounds and finishing off the game at the free throw line.
