SCOUTING FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON
Following a historic regular season, FDU is headed to the WNIT for the first time in program history. The team earned an automatic berth in the WNIT after notching the NEC Regular Season Championship title in February.Â
Â
Under head coach Angelika Szumilo, the Knights posted a historic conference run this season, ending regular season conference play on a program-best 15-3 record to cement their spot in history.
Â
Multiple Knights earned postseason honors as graduate student Madison Stanley was selected as NEC Player of the Year along with an All-Conference First Team nod, and Szumilo as Brenda Reilly Coach of the Year. Chloe Wilson and Aniya Bell tabbed All-NEC third team honors as both helped lead FDU to a winning record.
Â
Overall, the Knights enter the WNIT with a 19-11 record. Most recently, they were upset in the semifinals of the NEC Tournament by Bryant, 44-38. defeated Butler at Hinkle, 69-41, on Wednesday. Janai Crooms led all scorers with 17 points.Â
Â
UP NEXT
With a victory over FDU, Seton Hall will return to action in the second round of the WNIT against the winner of the first-round matchup between Stony Brook and VCU. The game date, time and location is still undetermined.
