EARLIER THIS YEAR AGAINST CREIGHTON
Creighton swept the 2021-22 season series against Seton Hall soundly defeating the Pirates, 83-60, in Omaha on Jan. 14, and winning 97-91 in double-overtime in an instant classic in Walsh Gym on Feb. 20.
Â
While the game in Omaha was over early, the double-overtime contest was well-played by both teams and is much more indicative of how the teams are currently playing. Junior Mya Bembry muscled her way for a layup with 2:37 left in double-overtime to give The Hall a 91-89 lead, but Creighton was able to take advantage with Espinoza-Hunter fouled out and Mya Jackson lost with an injury, and finished the game on a 9-0 run.
Â
Espinoza-Hunter was brilliant scoring 35 points on the strength of 6-for-8 shooting from three-point range. She also had five rebounds. Lauren Park-Lane played all 50 minutes, netting 24 points to go with five rebounds and a game-high 12 assists. Bembry also had a double-double with 10 points and a team-best 13 rebounds in a career-high 43 minutes.
Â
SCOUTING CREIGHTON
The Bluejays were predicted to finish sixth in the 11-team BIG EAST Conference, according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll, but ended up claiming the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. They finished the year with a 20-8 overall record and a 15-5 mark in BIG EAST play. Emma Ronsiek was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, while Lauren Jensen was named BIG EAST Co-Most Improved Player and to the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
Â
Creighton closed out the regular season with a 90-84 loss to DePaul on Feb. 27, but had won four straight before the setback.

Â
UP NEXT
