
Loeffel Leads Pirates to Victory at UMES

Princess Anne, Md. – The Seton Hall men's cross country team took took home the top spot out of eight teams at the Maryland Eastern Shore Farm Run. John Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.) took home a first place overall finish, marking the second straight race in which he finished inside the top-five overall.
Declan Harkness (Stewartsville, N.J.) finished right behind Loeffel as the Pirates took the top two spots in the 8k race. Harkness finished with a time of 27:23.8 for his best finish of the season so far. The Pirates had three runners finish in the top-four, as Nicholas Minikel (Milltown, N.J.) grabbed fourth place with a time of 27:40.0.
Crossing the line just outside the top-five was Patrick Wagner, registering a sixth-place finish in a time of 27:56.7. Three more Pirates nabbed top-10 times, as Justin Allone (Holtsville, N.Y.), Logan Brunozzi (Churchville, Pa.) and Daniel Washburn (Syracuse, N.Y.) grabbed eighth, ninth and 10th place, respectively. Stephen Beaman (Johnston, Iowa) was just behind them in 11th place with a time of 28:26.0.
James Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.) came in 13th place in 28:30.5, while Andrew Walde (Edmonds, Wash.) rounded out the 10 top-15 Pirate finishers with a time of 28:38.9 in 15th place. Peter Smutelovic and Daniel Houston also completed the 8k course on Saturday for Seton Hall, earning 30th and 32nd place, respectively.
The Pirates have a week off before competing in the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cordtlandt Park on October 7.
