Loeffel Leads Pirates to Victory at UMES

Princess Anne, Md. – The Seton Hall men's cross country team took took home the top spot out of eight teams at the Maryland Eastern Shore Farm Run. John Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.) took home a first place overall finish, marking the second straight race in which he finished inside the top-five overall.

Declan Harkness (Stewartsville, N.J.) finished right behind Loeffel as the Pirates took the top two spots in the 8k race. Harkness finished with a time of 27:23.8 for his best finish of the season so far. The Pirates had three runners finish in the top-four, as Nicholas Minikel (Milltown, N.J.) grabbed fourth place with a time of 27:40.0.

Crossing the line just outside the top-five was Patrick Wagner, registering a sixth-place finish in a time of 27:56.7. Three more Pirates nabbed top-10 times, as Justin Allone (Holtsville, N.Y.), Logan Brunozzi (Churchville, Pa.) and Daniel Washburn (Syracuse, N.Y.) grabbed eighth, ninth and 10^th place, respectively. Stephen Beaman (Johnston, Iowa) was just behind them in 11^th place with a time of 28:26.0.

James Loeffel (Queens, N.Y.) came in 13^th place in 28:30.5, while Andrew Walde (Edmonds, Wash.) rounded out the 10 top-15 Pirate finishers with a time of 28:38.9 in 15^th place. Peter Smutelovic and Daniel Houston also completed the 8k course on Saturday for Seton Hall, earning 30^th and 32^nd place, respectively.

The Pirates have a week off before competing in the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cordtlandt Park on October 7.
