
Rane Fuels Pirates Through Two Rounds at Delaware

REHOBOTH BEACH, DEL. – Freshman Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) is 10-over-par through two rounds and has paced the Seton Hall women's golf team to a 10th place standing entering round three at the 2023 Battle at the Beach at Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Rane had three birdies to fuel a 4-over-par, 76, in round one, and used 11 pars to power a 6-over-par, 78, in the afternoon. For the tournament, she is tied for 25th with a 10-over-par, 76-78-154.Â

Three players, including a pair from Delaware, lead a field of 66 individual golfers at even-par entering Sunday's final round.

As a team, The Hall fired a 28-over-par, 316, in round one, and shaved off three strokes in the afternoon to settle with a 25-over-par, 315. For the tournament, they're 53-over-par with a 316-313-629. Host Delaware is currently leading the team field with 18 holes left at 14-over-par. BIG EAST foe is currently in ninth place at 47-over-par.

Senior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) shot a 7-over-par, 79, in round one, but shaved off a pair of strokes in the afternoon to finish with a 5-over-par, 77. For the tournament, she is tied for 32nd place at 12-over-par with a 79-77-156.

Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) opened the tournament with a 6-over-par, 78, in round one. In the afternoon, she had 11 pars on her way to an 8-over-par, 80. Through 36 holes, she is tied for 40th with a 14-over-par, 78-80-158.

Sophomore Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) shot an 11-over-par, 83, in round one, but had the greatest improvement of anyone on the team in round two. In the afternoon, she had four birdies in route to a 6-over-par, 78. Currently, she's 17-over-par with an 83-78-161.

Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) rounded out the Pirates' scoring on Saturday. The sophomore also had an 11-over-par, 83, in round one, and also improved in round two. She had 10 pars to fuel a 9-over-par, 81. Todorovic is currently 20-over-par with an 83-81-164.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Delaware, the field is comprised of nine other teams including: Columbia, Delaware State, Harvard, Navy, Pennsylvania, Quinnipiac, Rutgers and William & Mary. BIG EAST opponent St. John's is also in the field.

THE FORMAT:
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

THE SCHEDULE:
The field will play two continuous rounds on Saturday, and one, final round on Sunday. For Saturday's rounds, the Pirates will be paired with golfers from Rutgers and St. John's with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Sunday's final round pairings will be determined by the golfers' Saturday performance with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
