
Smith Leads Way for Pirates at BIG EAST Championships

Kenosha, Wis. – Julia Smith (Pittsgrove, N.J.) was the first Pirate finisher on Saturday afternoon at the 2023 BIG EAST Championships. Smith paced the field of Pirates with a time of 22:54.41 on the 6k course.
Smith was followed by Paige Quigley (Sacramento, Calif.), who clocked a time of 23:29.96 to become the second Pirate to cross the finish line. Honey Strosnider (Fairfield, Pa.) finished third on the team, doing so with a time of 23:40.75, followed by Kayla Carrino (Lyndhurst, N.J.) with a time of 24:13.49.
Hannah Cullum (San Antonio, Texas) rounded out the top-five finishers for the Pirates, completing the course in a time of 24:55.16. Taj Lanier (Lincoln University, Pa.), Amelia Carson (Charleston, S.C.), Brianna Peiffer (Missouri City, Texas) and Kate Cochran (Sewell, N.J.) each also completed the course on the afternoon for Seton Hall.
The Pirates now gear up for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals to be held on Friday, Nov. 10 in Lehigh, Pa.
