
Fricker, O'Brien Fuel Pirates in Round Two in Arizona

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. – Sophomore George Fricker (Woodbridge, England) shot a career-low 3-under-par, 69, to power the Seton Hall men's golf team in round two at the Loyola Intercollegiate on Monday.

Fricker had four birdies and 13 pars in route to a 3-under-par, 69, on Monday and soared up the individual leaderboard. For the tournament, he's tied for 50th with a 3-over-par with a 78-69-147. Drake's Lucas Scherf currently leads the field at 9-under-par.

As a team, The Hall took a big step forward on Monday, shaving off 17 strokes from its first-round score to shoot a 4-under-par, 284. For the tournament, the Pirates are in 14th place with a 9-over-par, 301-284-585. Wright State is the current team leader at 10-under-par for the tournament.

Seton Hall's top golfer for the tournament continues to be senior Wenliang Xie (Zhaoqing, China), who used four birdies to fuel a 1-under-par, 71, on Monday. It's Xie's third sub-par effort in five rounds so far this spring. He now has 27 sub-par rounds for his career, which ranks fourth-most in program history.

For the tournament, Xie is tied for 24th place among 108 individual golfers with an even-par, 73-71-144.Â

Sophomore Angus O'Brien (Barwon Heads, Australia) also had a big round on Monday, utilizing six birdies to shoot a 2-under-par, 70. He's currently one stroke behind Xie for the tournament, tied for 35th place with a 1-over-par, 75-70-145.

Freshman David Lally (Wicklow, Ireland) shaved off seven strokes from his first round score, using four birdies to fuel a 2-over-par, 74. He's currently 11-over-par for the tournament with an 81-74-155.

Junior Wanxi Sun (Danville, Calif.) is also 11-over-par for the event with a 75-80-155.

Competing as an individual, junior Brody Hanley (Lantana, Texas) is 17-over-par with an 80-81-161 through 36 holes.
