
Zavagli's Career-Best Tournament Fuels Pirates

JOHNS CREEK, GA. – Junior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) tallied an even-par, 72, in Tuesday's final round to power the Seton Hall women's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Georgia State Invitational.

Zavagli had two birdies and 14 pars in a stellar final round that capped a career-best tournament. For the three-round event, Zavagli tied for second place among 89 individual golfers with a 1-under-par, 73-70-72-215. It's her fourth career top-10 finish and her first-ever sub-par tournament. Boston College's Stephany Kim won the individual title just one stroke better than Zavagli at 2-under-par.

As a team, The Hall turned in its best round of the event with an 11-over-par, 299. The Pirates finished the 54-hole event with a 38-over-par, 302-301-299-902. Lipscomb won the team title at 3-over-par.

Sophomore Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) turned in a fine final round using three birdies to fuel a 1-over-par, 73, on Tuesday. Her final effort enabled her to rocket 17 spots up the leaderboard. She finished the tournament tied for 40th place with a 13-over-par, 78-78-73-229.

Senior Sarah Fouratt (Santa Maria, Calif.) shot an 8-over-par, 80, in round three. For the tournament, she tied for 46th place with a 14-over-par, 74-76-80-230.

Ludovica Busetto (Padova, Italy) was consistent throughout the tournament and shot her third-straight 5-over-par, 77, in round three. For the two-day event, she was 15-over-par with a 77-77-77-231.

Rounding out the Pirates' lineup was Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia), who shot a career-low 5-over-par, 77, on Tuesday. For the tournament, the freshman was 24-over-par with an 83-80-77-240.

Competing as an individual, freshman Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) finished the tournament with a 27-over-par, 80-80-83-243.

THE COURSE:
Rivermont's centerpiece is the Championship 18-Hole Golf Course originally designed by Joe Lee which underwent a complete re-design by golf course designer, Michael Riley in 2006. The improvements transformed what was already an excellent layout and course into one of the most critically acclaimed courses in Georgia today. Over the last forty-seven years the course has maintained the integrity and beauty of the natural environment and continues to challenge to the low handicapper as well as the new player. Continued improvements over the years, specifically in 2015-2016 and 2019-2020 have helped elevate Rivermont's reputation among golfers both locally and even nationally.

Rivermont has been honored to host nearly thirty qualifiers for the United States Golf Association (local qualifying for the US Open and sectional qualifying for the US Senior Open, the US Mid-Amateur, the US Women's Mid-Amateur and the Men's Four-Ball Championship) as well as more than a dozen Atlanta Amateur Championships for the Georgia State Golf Association. We have also hosted events for the Georgia Section of the PGA, the Atlanta Junior Golf Association and the Southern Golf Association. In 2018, Rivermont hosted the Georgia State Golf Association Junior Championship in June and in 2019 Rivermont Golf Club received an award as the "Best Golf Club" in Johns Creek. In 2023, Rivermont will host the Georgia State Amateur Championship.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Georgia State, the field was comprised of 14 other teams including: Albany, Appalachian State, Boston College, Bradley, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Jacksonville State, Lipscomb, Murray State, Troy and Western Carolina.
