HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Seton Hall women's golf team will return to action on April 10-11 for two rounds of golf at the St. John's Invitational at Saint Andrew's Golf Club.
Â
Tournament Details:
ST. JOHN'S INVITATIONAL
Host:Â St. John's University
Location:Â Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.
Course:Â Saint Andrew's Golf Club
Course Vitals:Â Par-71, 5,815 yards
Dates:Â April 10-11, 2023
Â
THE COURSE:
The magnificent golf course of The Saint Andrew's Golf Club has been shaped by the skill and imagination of three renowned designers over the course of its nearly 135 years of operation. Today's layout, a challenging 6614 yard, par 71,18 hole course rated at 145, is largely the product of a Jack Nicklaus Signature redesign undertaken over the years 1983-85. But a number of the original holes remain in play, largely unchanged. And a number of holes have been subsequently refined in an unceasing effort to enhance the aesthetic beauty of the course and enrich the playing experience.
THE FIELD
In addition to Seton Hall and host St. John's, the field is comprised of nine other teams including: Albany, Bucknell, Columbia, Fairfield, Hartford, Holy Cross, Quinnipiac, Siena and Wagner.
Â
THE FORMAT
Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.
Â
THE LINEUP
Seton Hall will be bringing the following lineup to Georgia:
LAST TIME OUT
Junior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) tallied an even-par, 72, in the final round to power the Seton Hall women's golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Georgia State Invitational on March 28.
Â
Zavagli had two birdies and 14 pars in a stellar final round that capped a career-best tournament. For the three-round event, Zavagli tied for second place among 89 individual golfers with a 1-under-par, 73-70-72-215. It's her fourth career top-10 finish and her first-ever sub-par tournament. Boston College's Stephany Kim won the individual title just one stroke better than Zavagli at 2-under-par.
Â
As a team, The Hall turned in its best round of the event with an 11-over-par, 299. The Pirates finished the 54-hole event with a 38-over-par, 302-301-299-902. Lipscomb won the team title at 3-over-par.Â
Â
TEE TIMES
The field will play 18 holes each day. For round one, the Pirates will be paired with golfers from St. John's and Albany. There will be a shotgun start at 11:00 a.m. The shotgun start on Tuesday is at 9:30 a.m.
