
Zavagli Leads Pirates Through Two Rounds at Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Ginevra Zavagli (Rome, Italy) is currently 7-over-par and has lifted the Seton Hall women's golf team to an eighth-place standing after two rounds of the Princeton Invitational.

Zavagli had four birdies in the first round in route to a 1-over-par, 72. In round two, she shot a 6-over-par, 77. For the tournament, Zavagli is tied for 23rd place with a 7-over-par, 72-77-149. She currently trails the individual leader, Boston University's Christy Chen by nine strokes with 18 holes left to play.

Collectively, The Hall was consistent on Saturday, shooting a 23-over-par, 307, in round one, followed by a 22-over-par, 306, in round two. For the tournament, they're 45-over-par with a 307-306-613. Fellow BIG EAST competitor, Georgetown, currently leads the field at 8-over-par. Another BIG EAST foe, St. John's is currently in 10th place at 51-over-par.

Junior Ana Sarrias Pro (Cadiz, Spain) shot a 7-over-par, 78, in round one, but shaved three strokes off that score in the afternoon. In round two, she had three birdies in route to a 4-over-par, 75. For the tournament, she's tied for 31st with an 11-over-par, 78-75-153.

Sophomore Anne-Sofie Ekman (Copenhagen, Denmark) is on pace for the best tournament of her career. Through two rounds, she's tied for 41st place with a 13-over-par, 78-77-155.

Making her collegiate debut, Renee Rane (New Delhi, India) is currently tied for 47th place. The freshman shot a 14-over-par, 79-77-156, in her first action as a Pirate.

Sophomore Lara Todorovic (Belgrade, Serbia) rounded out Seton Hall's scoring on Saturday with a 24-over-par, 84-82-166.

THE COURSE:
Dating back to 1895, Springdale Golf Club is one of the oldest in New Jersey. Designed by Gerard Lambert and revised by William Flynn in 1926, the walkable course requires precision shot-making and has superior conditions and playability. The property, which was originally private farmland, was purchased by the Class of 1886 and gifted to Princeton University with the expectation of establishing one of the first courses in the region. The private club has a close relationship with the University, and counts many university professors, administrators and students among its members.  With a fine and experienced PGA staff, the club hosts numerous tournaments, collegiate matches, clinics and golf outings every year.Â

Teams will play five golfers and count the four lowest scores per round.

In addition to Seton Hall and host Princeton, the field is comprised of 10 other teams including: Albany, Boston University, Columbia, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Harvard, Holy Cross and Penn. A pair of BIG EAST opponents, Georgetown and St. John's are also in the field.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The field will play two continuous rounds. On Sunday, the field will play one final round, also with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m.
